What are We Really Looking For?

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

I have been fascinated with the responses to my blog about Hailey Glassman. It has sparked so much emotion in many people that I think it is now time to respond.

Most reactions that are so polarizing there are only two forces to contend with: for and against. My question is “What are you for and what are you against?”

Divorce

Divorce

It is so exciting to see educators in other fields acknowledging the power of patterns in behavior repetition from parents to children. This article is excellent and will give room for discussion about why it is so important to complete patterns from the past so they do not have to be repeated on an unconscious level.

Leadership Strategies: Better to Make Headlines or Make a Difference?

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Last week the buzz about Jon Gosselin participating in our Total Leadership Connections program was over the top. The fact that I am presently outlining a yet to be names book with him drew lots of attention.

Jon and I talked about what the pull is to check out his every move. I became intrigues with the types of media comments from folks who picked up the initial article and put their own spin to it.

What Do Coaches Coach?

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

This past week has been fascinating in terms of learning how the media works. It is not so much having something written about me, that has been done and it is always fun to see a book review about “Don’t Bring It to Work” or an article like the one in The Wall Street Journal a month ago.

That is so different from what has happened this week. I was asked to do an interview with radaronline.com. It is not the usual place you will find me. However, there I was talking with a reporter about one of the participants in our Total Leadership Connections program.

Lindsey Lohan: Patterns that Repeat

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Why do we do the same things over and over and expect different results? Einstein called this the definition of insanity!

I was deeply saddened to see that Lindsey Lohan is going the route that leads to a dead end path. Better if she could be helped to get to the root of what is driving her. It will not happen in jail or in traditional rehab. Her father Michael went that route and, as he said on Larry King Live, it didn’t get to the root of his personal issues.

Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson

In our Total Leadership Connections program we teach participants to go beyond the obvious, that leadership in any field requires deep thought; superficial considerations are merely not enough.

Pay Attention

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

This is a time to really, really look at the meaning of success, of relationship, and in honor of the Fourth of July, of freedom.

Please go to Examiner.com where I am a writer and check out the blog I did about Jon Gosselin who is in our Total leadership Connections program. Jon lives in Pa. and has been on the reality series “Jon and Kate Plus Eight” where we all had the opportunity to watch sextuplet and twin Gosselins grow and flourish.

To Know You is to Love You

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Hey, take a minute and look in the mirror. Not to judge, just to look. Now, what do you see?

Most of us will start with what is wrong. Sad but true. We live in a sort and judge, sort and judge world. We come from a fix and hide, fix and hide society. Think about teeth; how white is white enough? Why should teeth be super white anyway?

Leadership and Change: Ready on a Moment’s Notice

Friday, June 25th, 2010

I must really be getting old! I remember when tornadoes were only meant to happen in Kansas. In past years most of us watched “The Wizard of Oz” and went along with Dorothy on her journey, yet it was just a story, right?

While tornadoes indicate sudden change and danger they were “out there” in pockets of the country. They were meant to be in Kansas, not Connecticut. Well, not until this week anyway.

Workplace Conflict Can Be a Good Thing

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

We are deeply into the second session of our 44th Total Leadership Connections program and I am still amazed when the dots between our backgrounds and work issues become clear.

In the present group is a young woman who grew up in a communist country and we had the privilege of hearing a first hand report of the tests and trials her family had to endure.
